Recently, several people in other opportunities (such as Passport to Wealth, Perfect Wealth Formula, PWF, and
Roadmap to Riches), started buying keywords in Google that include my name and the names of other EDC
leaders. These advertisers were quite comfortable making broad statements and spewing half truths, proffering
the idea that EDC is no longer any good, that I am not trustworthy and that the 2-up system is unfair. As you
might guess, they went on promising to have the 'perfect' opportunity – one in which you can make a lot of money
– FAST.
Hmmm…who are these people? Have they ever called to talk with me directly? Do they know anything about the
way I run my business? No. What would motivate them to finance a negative campaign against EDC, me and
other leaders in EDC? Gosh, is it possible that they have an agenda of their own? I hope you're not naive
enough to think that these distributors are so concerned about your future that they just want to warn you about
EDC. As you can see from their destination pages, their motive is to make money by having you join their
opportunity instead. I guess some people will do anything to make a buck.
I don't have a problem with people using my name as a keyword in a Google campaign. What I do have a
problem with is advertisers riding off my name with unfounded claims that do not apply to individuals like
myself. This would be similar to me accusing PWF of defaming my character – when in reality only a couple of
their distributors are guilty. Such a tactic would be unfair to PWF and their honest distributors, and make me
look spiteful and desperate.
Still, I'm always open to listening to opposing opinions so I can make an educated decision. I learned this lesson
when I managed 100 people in a call center twelve years ago. Subordinates would "tattle" on each other and the
information sometimes alarmed and upset me. But I found that my first impression was often wrong. I learned to
gather the facts so I could see the situation from all angles before making a decision.
As these accusations about EDC began appearing (see below), it did cause me to look at these claims, other
opportunities and reevaluate my commitment to EDC and Promo Black Box. Was I overstaying my welcome in
EDC, and thereby missing the next great money making online venture? So I looked at these issues and even
investigated some of these 'golden' opportunities, and went so far as to talk with some of their leaders.
Following are some of my conclusions. Let's examine them, issue by issue.
Claim #1 - The 2 Up System Is A Bad System: Latest Update - EDC now has a modified 2/up system
There is nothing further from the truth. I'd rather make 100% commissions after my two qualifying sales than give
up a huge percentage on every sale forever. I've been involved in several MLM and network marketing
structures. I must tell you that I still like the 2-up system the best. Why? I don't know about you, but I'm in
business to build something that will last. Your first two sales should not take longer than 5 to 45 days. After
your qualifying sales (let's say two weeks), you keep 100% commissions for the life of your business! In the long
run, you make a lot more money.
You still have to compete against other distributors and learn how to market effectively. Also, if someone has
trouble making two sales, they will have trouble making a living online. Zero sales means zero commissions no
matter what system or opportunity you're part of.
I'm willing to bet that many of those who are bashing the 2-up structure now will be involved in a business using it
within the next 6 months!
Claim #2 – The Products Are Junk: Latest Update - EDC now has almost 10 times the product of most
of our competitors.
Now that is funny. I'm certain that even our $69 program has more value than some of the $1,000+ programs out
there. Granted, a few of the 1,000 or so e-books and software titles are a little older, however, the majority of our
titles are fantastic and of great value (I personally use several of them). In addition, new products are being
added constantly. I just love some of the new e-books and software we’ve just added, plus, how about Promo
Black Box. Some of these companies have even tried to copy our product line. All I can say is…just try to keep
up.
Claim #3 – EDC Distributors Offering Discounts: Latest Update - With the modified plan it will be much
harder to do this.
Some EDC people were advertising outrageous discounts (including no qualifying sales), and I'm glad Craig has
cracked down and even expelled many of them.
Funny enough though, I have received many discount offers by the very people of these other opportunities who
were so critical of the leniency within EDC! Hmm? Is there a double standard here?
Claim #4 - Top Earners Are Leaving EDC: Latest Update - They are now coming backbecause of the
latest changes in EDC.
It is true that some of the leaders left EDC. After talking with several of them however, it is not true that they all
left for the same reasons. Some leaders jump from opportunity to opportunity because - - well, that's what they
do! They think the only way to make money is by latching onto the "hype" of the newest, latest and greatest
Home Based Business.
As a matter of fact, this pattern is clearly evident in many leaders. After the initial hype of some of these new
opportunities, they've already moved on to something else! They got into an opportunity in the pre-launch phase
(hoping to ride on the hype), but by the time it actually launched, they were already hot on to something else.
They may still officially be a representative, but are actively promoting an exciting pre-launch of another.
My question is...what happens to the person that scraped up their last dime to make some money? I guess, that
person would also have to move from opportunity to opportunity if they wanted to make any money...not such a
great option in my opinion.
Claim #5 - Replicated Site Owners Enjoy the Greatest Benefits - Latest Update - David Dubbs Lo
Longer promoted on corporate website.
This is true. I don't care if we're talking about David Dubbs or any other online opportunity leader that offers a
replicated site. By the way, the same holds true for all e-opportunities, not just EDC. I have no doubt that these
leaders make tens of thousands of dollars monthly from the credibility they derive from distributors directing their
leads to their replicated sites.
Let's think about this however. It's a free country and nobody is forcing us to use these replicated sites. My
team in EDC can tell you that I have always made it a point to test various lead capture opportunities and keep
them abreast of what's working best. I regularly split test these sites against my own. Though countless people
have told me they prefer the more rational overview of the business via my site, often the replicated sites convert
better. As a savvy marketer, I keep my finger on the pulse and try to remain nimble so I can shift at a moment's
notice.
Even though I know some prospects go to a replicated site and think, "Hey, why go with someone who's making
six figures a year, when perhaps I can work with someone making seven?" They don't always connect the dots
and understand that the person bringing on more than 100 new distributors each month will have little no time to
help them. Well, ok, I lose some sales when using replicated sites. But I still go with what converts best at the
time. If I'm making more with the replicated site, then that's what I use.
EDC just came out with 3 new sites that should convert a lot better than the old ones. This will give people a
chance to test them against the Dubbs' and other sites and not have to come up with extra money to have a
good converting site of their own. LATEST UPDATE...I just talked with Craig earlier today...the new Dubbs site
will not have Dubbs highlighted as it is now...that's great news.
Claim #6 - The Owners Sell EDC Himself: Latest Update - No Longer True
This is true. It would be better if the owners were not selling themselves, especially since EDC is designed to
offer the rest of us a way to have our dreams fulfilled and thus make them rich as well. I hope that Craig will
change his mind about actively recruiting for himself or at least be a much less dominant advertiser. It would
make EDC even a better opportunity. LATEST UPDATE...starting now, the owners will no longer sell themselves...
they are listening to us!!!
Claim #7 - EDC does Not Allow For People To Have Other Opportunities:
This is not entirely true. EDC does not want members selling directly competitive opportunities. Personally, I think
the decision to disallow members from participating in other businesses was not a good one...so I have to
disagree with Craig here. In my opinion, everyone should be able to sell as many opportunities as they wish.
In Summary:
EDC has some challenges and I disagree with Craig and Mike on just a couple things, but overall this criticism is
totally overblown and self-serving. Do these challenges make EDC a bad opportunity? No. Can EDC improve
and be even better? Yes. Frankly, you can say that about any and all Home Based Business Opportunities.
I believe that EDC is still the BEST Home Based Business Opportunity available bar none. EDC will continue to
evolve with new ideas and product launches like Promo Black Box. Also, did you know that EDC makes zero
money…that's ZERO from YNF...I don’t' see any other online business opportunity with an offer like that.
